Food For Thought

                                                              Stuff I Don't Eat

Aw, geez, it was another crappy day!  Rain, wind and fog combined to make the type of day where you just want to stay in bed.  I should have.  I didn't accomplish anything today.  By the time my studio warmed up it was time for me to call it a day and head to Brunswick for an eye appointment.  I had scheduled it awhile ago because I couldn't see anything good about my paintings.  The Doctor prescribed a pair of rose colored glasses, so I should be alright soon.

I used to live near Brunswick, but last year we moved about an hours drive away, so I have rarely been back.  But tonight, my beautiful partner Ellen and I decided that since we both were in town, we should dine out.  We decided on eating at one of those fancy, high-end restaurants.  Not that we can afford it, mind you, but splurging every once in awhile is good for the soul.  Anyway, since Brunswick is home to Bowdoin College, it has plenty of fancy little bistros to choose from, and we have eaten at this one before.  It was a treat to peruse the drink list.  Now, I'm a beer man, and they have a fine selection of macro-brews.  Since they know that beer is best served chilled, they give you an authentic plastic beer mug that may have been washed this week to pour your beer into.  And it's frosted!  It always hits the spot.  You know, when your prepared to blow some big bucks on food, you have certain expectations as to the quality, and again, this place didn't let us down.  I like my pepperoni crisp, like my fried bologna.  They did it perfectly.  That, and the four cheeses seemed to have a party in my mouth!  And not one of those sloppy Frat-boy parties, either, but a nice neighborhood get together around the barbecue.

Did I mention the crust?  Good crust is rare to find.  Especially when it's loaded with still more cheese!  I'm sorry if I have rambled on too long about this place, but if you are in Brunswick, Maine I wholeheartedly recommend the fine restaurant La hutte de pizza!

What does that have to do with painting?  Nothing really, but here's a painting anyway.  Thanks for reading!

Lol! They have a "La hutte de pizza" in Waterville, too - come up sometime and I'll treat. They do wash the pitchers so that'll be an extra treat for ya. Love both of the pics posted today :-)
